Joan Birkmyre

I am a trained private practitioner in marital and couple counseling in Northern Ireland with over thirty years of experience in sexual and relationship issues. I also work with sexual addiction, sometimes called sexual compulsive behaviour. Originally a nurse, I began training with Relate in 1988, earning a Certificate in Marital and Couple Counseling and a Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy. Recently, I completed a Diploma in Supervision and have supervised counselors in various organisations. I am C.O.S.R.T. accredited, following their ethics, and work with individuals and couples using models like psychodynamic, transactional analysis, and cognitive behavioral therapy. I also completed StopSO specialist training.
